Customer Service Bulletin

California Firearm Parts & Accessories Restrictions (Effective January 1, 2026)

Issued by: SDS Arms – Customer Service Department

At SDS Arms, we value the trust our customers place in us and remain committed to supporting the lawful exercise of Second Amendment rights. We also recognize that the firearms industry is subject to a complex and evolving landscape of federal, state, and local regulations. In order to continue serving our customers responsibly and to remain in full legal compliance, we must occasionally adjust our sales and shipping policies.

Overview of California Law Changes

Effective January 1, 2026, new California legislation: AB 1263 and SB 704 significantly changes how certain firearm parts and accessories may be sold within the state.

Under these laws, specific items are now regulated in a manner similar to firearms themselves. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Certain AR‑15 components, such as grips, stocks, flash hiders, and similar accessories
  • Firearm barrels and other designated critical components.

These items may now require sales to be processed through a licensed California firearms dealer (FFL) and may be subject to background checks and additional compliance requirements under state law.

SDS Arms Shipping Policy Update

As a result of these changes, SDS Arms will restrict direct-to-consumer shipping of all firearm parts, magazines and accessories to residents of California, effective December 23, 2025. This decision is not made lightly. These laws require age-verification and/or other processes our systems can’t support at this time.  We’re continuing to evaluate compliance options and appreciate your patience and understanding.

It is a necessary step to ensure compliance with applicable laws and to protect both our customers and our company.

In addition, similar restrictions may apply to residents of other states or local jurisdictions where comparable laws are currently in effect or enacted in the future.

Our Position

SDS Arms firmly supports the Second Amendment and the rights of responsible, law-abiding Americans to own firearms and related equipment. However, as a federally licensed company, we must operate within the legal framework established by federal, state, and local authorities. Compliance is essential for us to continue doing business and to remain a reliable source of firearms and accessories nationwide.

What Customers Should Expect

  • Orders shipping to restricted states may be limited, canceled, or redirected based on applicable laws
  • Certain items may only be available through licensed dealers in those states
  • Our customer service team will continue to assist customers with questions regarding product eligibility and order status

We encourage all customers, particularly those residing in California, to stay informed about their local laws and regulations.
